The media and the attack on American rights.

Original article link is at the bottom of this post.  I cut the text from "Dailycaller.com" because it was full of add pop-ups that I find annoying.  My comments follow at the bottom if you make it that far.

"The way that the major social platforms treat firearms content, and by proxy, those that own them, is deeply disturbing.  It is a lot like the baker that refuses to make a cake, but the implications are far more dangerous.  In the former situation, someone might not get a cake on time.  In the latter situation, an enumerated Constitutional right being constantly trampled in plain sight has become commonplace.

Some will claim that is an over-statement.  Well consider the following.  What other Constitutional rights are not allowed to be discussed on major social media platforms?  That is correct, the answer is zero.

Unlike all other rights, the Right to Keep and Bear arms requires access to certain inanimate objects.  Because of this, and some seriously lenient interpretation of the Commerce Clause, these objects, and this Constitutional right, are jointly the most regulated in the history of our country.

If you can’t talk about buying or selling the precise objects whose ownership are protected on any of the prolific communication platforms of the day, do you really still have that right?

The freedom haters who have weaseled their way into elected office have, as of the time of this writing, been unable to take firearms from peaceable citizens.  Make no mistake, that is their goal.  They have however been able to infiltrate the tech sector with their toxic culture enough to accomplish this goal through wholly separate means.

Take Armslist.com for example.  I have been running this site for nearly a decade.  It is one of the few places where speech on the internet regarding the proposed purchase or sale of the aforementioned inanimate objects is permitted.  Rather than being lauded for protecting this valuable Constitutional right, it is the subject of media scrutiny, and lawsuits.  The first of which we defeated in Federal Court.  But that doesn’t stop the anti-gun movement.  There have been 2 more since then, in different states.  And the cost, aggravation, and bad PR continue for years, despite the fact that these lawsuits are prohibited by Federal Law.  A Federal Law that protects free speech on the internet.

“No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider” (47 U.S.C. § 230)

These lawsuits attempt to make Armslist liable for the conduct of third parties who choose of their own volition to break the law.  Imagine if we treated highways, phone lines, television, or any other infrastructure like that.  Society would grind to a halt.

These lawsuits endanger all free speech on the Internet, not just firearms related content.  Because the groups that are willing to destroy your 2nd Amendment rights, are not concerned with whatever other rights are harmed in the process.

The news media is part of the attack on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as well.  If a few people are victims in some type of crime involving a firearm, it will get non-stop national news coverage for days. If a person lawfully defends his life and kills multiple attackers, there is a now-predictable, complete and total radio silence by the national media.  You can find these stories, but rarely are they reported by anyone other than the local news channel.  It is because the first story fits their narrative, and the second does not fit the narrative against firearms and firearms owners.

Unless we unite and labor to reverse this abhorrent treatment of such a sacrosanct right that we are uniquely privileged to have in this country, it will be a short road to the end of all of them.  Just look at Venezuela."

This article hit home for me on constitutional rights and how they are leveraged by the mainstream media. By proxy, many Americans who view the news as pure truth also have the same views that are being spattered about carelessly.

"What other Constitutional rights are not allowed to be discussed on major social media platforms? That is correct, the answer is zero." This quote really pointed out the bias to me, I noticed it, but didn't really think about it until I read this line.

The bias is blatant and I felt the need to share this article because the author is right, you rarely here anyone trying to squelch any of the other Constitutional rights.  It goes against my normal policy of soap boxing my political platform, but sometimes I just have to voice my opinion. I feel that corporate mainstream media is the biggest problem in America today.  Then sensationalist, one sided, waterboard reporting they are practicing on the American people makes me sad and frustrated.  It seems you can't get two sides to ANY story from ANY media outlet on the left or the right. The truth is hidden behind agendas and mass emotional reaction-ism crafted to divide people, followed by slandering comments directed at our own fellow Americans on the other side of whatever today's dividing issue is. You are being told by example of whatever news you are ingesting, how to think about the issue and how to react to someone who doesn't agree with the narrative being portrayed.  America is spiraling downward by our own doing.

I'd like to propose a Bill to stop police car chases amongst motorist in America.  I want everyone to know that I support our rich transportation heritage fully, and the police fully support me in this cause.  We need to stop these high speed chases to make our roads safer for the children before anyone else gets hurt.    First thing that we need to do is ban Corvettes, Porsches, Camaros, Mustangs, and many other sports cars on my list.  Sports cars are designed for high speed and don't really serve the purpose of transportation. They have many features to allow them to go fast:  Streamlined body, light weight construction, manual transmissions.  Sports cars only have 2 doors and 2 seats which make them more like a race car than a transportation vehicle.   And wow, they look fast, no one should own something like this!  The law breaking criminal will choose these cars as getaway vehicles and evad the police, even though statistics show very few are used in such chases.   Likewise on my list, I'm going to ban the 1980's Fiero 2M4, it has may sports car like features, slanted sleek nose, 2 doors, light construction, manual transmission, and it's not designed for transportation in mind because it only has 2 doors and 2 seats.   Just to show you how much I've thought this out, I'm NOT going to put on my list the Ford Taurus SHO.  This car is perfectly acceptable, it's a family sedan, it has four doors, seats 5 people, made of heavy steel, has an automatic transmission, and it looks like a normal car that I would drive. It might even be a family car that was passed down from father to son, and is really a part of our transportation heritage.   I really don't care that the  FORD Taurus SHO can compete with a Corvette, Mustang, Camaro, and many other cars with its overall performance....... and I don't care that a Fiero 2m4 could NOT keep up with my Grandma's minivan.   And while I'm at it, I'm going to ban all gas tanks in all cars larger than 10 gallons, because then all these high speed chases won't last long if they only have 10 gallons. I'm mean really, who needs more than 10 gallons of gas in their tank, there is a gas station on every corner! You can just fill up any time you want.   I just know that passing my Bill will reduce police chases in America!

Signed your politician.........

Before you read on, I think we can agree this sounds a bit outlandish?  How is getting rid of sports cars going to keep people from evading police with other cars, or motorcycles, or even running on foot?  It's not.

This proposal is a attack on your freedom to choose a car that suits whatever purpose you want it for....It could be you collect cars, could be you race them in street legal closed racing courses, could be you like the way it looks in your garage, or that you like to go to car shows and show it off, the point is it doesn't matter the reason, if you want a Sports car no one should be telling you you can't have one because it only has 2 doors and it looks fast.......   Would you be upset if someone told you, sorry you can't buy them anymore?  What would you do about it?   Sit back and say oh well.....guess I'll never fulfill the dream of retiring and driving down Route 66 in a convertible Corvette!  American dream squashed by politics, no....you would be in an uproar at the absurdity of such a proposed law.

Now substitute your favorite hobby for sports cars.....Golf (people get hit with ball, its dangerous)........British Football(Fans get stampeded and killed)....Hockey (its too violent).....Fishing (you're hurting fish, and people might get accidentally hooked), you name it,  you would be in an uproar if it was banned....

Now for those of you who don't get what I'm trying to say:
High Speed Car Chases = Violent Crime.
Sports Cars = Semi-Auto Guns that don't have any sporting (hunting heritage) purpose.
Fiero 2m4 = Semi-Auto AR15, not as powerful but demonized for its looks and similarities to military machine guns.
Ford Taurus SHO = Semi-Auto hunting rifles which in many cases are more powerful but look like your grandpa's 1960 hunting rifle.
Gas Tanks = Magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammo.

Now stand up and voice your opinion to your politicians, even if you don't own guns, or plan on owning them, its not about the guns, its about standing up for America and the Bill of Rights....... America is slowly becoming the land of the not so free..... take a stand and don't let them walk all over your rights!
